For Such a Time is This (Esther 4:14)

Esther was queen of Persia — but it wasn’t as glamorous as it sounds.
She had a title, but not real security. She had influence, but she hadn’t seen the king for 30 days.

She’d kept her Jewish identity hidden.

But now her people faced destruction. And Mordecai sends her this message:
“Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

It was a wake-up call.
She could stay silent, or she could step into the reason God had placed her there. Approaching the king without being summoned was a capital offense. Her decision to act tested her faith and bravery.

We Are Not Placed by Accident
In business and professional life, it’s easy to think our positions come down to hard work, luck, or timing. But Scripture reminds us: we are placed by God’s hand. Your influence, your platform, your network — they are not accidents. They may be part of God’s plan to shape lives, organisations, and even cities.

The Challenge of Silence
Esther had stayed quiet until this moment. Isn’t that a challenge for us? How often do we stay silent in our workplaces, boardrooms, or client meetings — because it feels safer, more comfortable?

Mordecai’s words cut through:
“Who knows but that you are here for such a time as this?”

It asks us: where is God calling us to speak up, act, or bring Christian values into the workplace?

Courage in the Marketplace
Esther risked her life. Our risks may not be life-or-death, but courage is still needed: to stand with integrity, to speak truth when it costs, to bring God’s perspective into places that prefer compromise.

Reflection
What if God has placed you in your role for such a time as this?

Where might silence be easy, but courage faithful?
